INFORM Software honored for being one of the most innovative logistics solutions

The SyncroSupply system convinces the jury at the famous elog@istics award

On the occasion of this year's elog@istics award the software solution SyncroSupply of the Aachen software service provider INFORM has been honored as one of the best logistics solutions in the automotive industry. The expert jury selected the system implemented and in use at BMW AG for dynamic truck control for being one of the most innovative practice solutions.

Prof. Zimmermann, academic counselor of INFORM, received the jury certificate from the Minister for Economic Affairs and Labor of Saarland, Dr. Hanspeter Georgi on the occasion of the AKJ Automotive Congress in Saarbrücken. The elog@istics award is focused on innovative concepts and solutions for logistics which have proven their value in practice.
SyncroSupply from the product family SyncroTESS of INFORM GmbH plans, controls, tracks and traces materials deliveries by trucks, and coordinates these deliveries with the capacities of loading points within the plant and the current needs of the production. All loading points, waiting and buffer areas are taken into account and subjected to optimisation. Time slots are communicated via a WEB portal and have to be reserved by forwarders. On the day of delivery execution this plan constitutes the basis for the online truck control and the occupation of the loading points, which derive from operational requirements on the one hand and forwarders' demurrage claims on the other. SyncroSupply sets up an over-all optimum composed from the aims "avoid traffic jams within the plant", "guarantee material supply", "shorten waiting periods (reduce demurrage costs)" and "optimize in-plant transport processes".
Further advantages are the increased transparency and a smoother and quicker handling at the loading points and the gates.
Mr. Marc Lüderitz responsible for the dynamic truck control system (DLSS) at BMW confirms: "Trucks don't queue up at the loading points any longer, waiting times and time needed for unloading can be made visible and the required material is fully automatically delivered to the loading points within the agreed time slots and with regard to necessary priorities."
