Web technology for company-wide communication

The GroundStar modules ContractControl, BillingControl and QualityControl work now with web technology. Like their predecessors, the new modules are based on a central database (AODB) where all master data is captured and managed. Updates and actualisations of operational information are imported from external systems (e.g. SITA) and run together in this database.

The new systems are based on JAVA and operate under a newly designed GUI, which facilitates navigation and takes full advantage of the enhanced integration among the various functions. The database and all applications are installed on a central server. On each computer connected to the intra- or internet, a standard browser is used to access all applications according to predefined access level authorisations. The multi-location and multi-client capability allows for company-wide use of the software, including individual assignments of access rights (also between holding and branch offices), and for seamless operation with identical data from a central administrative entity. Based on the central server installation, it is possible to add operative applications chosen precisely according to the special requirements of various fields of business. Connection to and data exchange with external systems - e.g. an ERP or financial system like ORACLE Finance or SAP - is also possible due to an integrated data editing module.

RosterControl and RealTimeControl also provide for staff access via the web. An online browser gives access to RealTimeControl for staff to inspect tasks, flights and shifts, and print task sheets and reports. The RosterControl web terminals provide access to staff rosters and enable employees to check-in and check-out directly on the rostering system, as well as to enter information such as rostering preferences.
