Operations Research uses mathematical and other appropriate methods to improve decisions and processes. Initially it was used and developed for military purposes to develop optimum strategies. After World War II it entered business and public administration and has been used extensively to achieve better results with the available resources.
Today the methods of Operations Research are recognised as being the best methods to optimise highly complex systems. The combination of Operations Research methods with high computer performance can significantly improve corporate processes.
Using models and methods of Operations Research can be applied to both, planning and controlling time-critical processes in “real time”.
